In this workshop, I will help you understand the mechanics of your body as it applies to headstand in an effort to get upside down. We will work together to warm up the body with a short flow and core work. We will discuss the proper preparations and form for headstand to keep you safe, then we will get upside down. It’s completely common to be fearful of taking your feet over head so we will use props, partners and the wall in an effort to make this workshop accessible for all levels of practitioners.
Sirsasana (headstand) is considered the king of asana (poses) for a multitude of reasons and we will explore the possibilities of your practice working toward this asana. It would be helpful to focus on core work in your classes to prepare for headstand, so try to make a commitment to yourself in order to get the most from this workshop. (no potty breaks during core work) ;)
